Machining the Wood
The students on the prototype producton team trained weekly for three weeks in the correct usage of the CNC machine in the Brooks Innovation Center. The students also train in the wood shop and are followed closely by an instructor. They recieve monthly progress reports on their working potential from the wood shop instructor. Students work through the process of milling lumber and making it into a refined piece of furniture based on the 3D renderings done by the design team as well as basic measurements from companies that build similar furniture.
