Table 1 Almost Complete

This week was huge fore the Wood Enterprise Institute (WEI) team. The first table is starting to come together. The team made great strides this week in production by fitting on the pieces to the table together. There were some complications in the legs and tenon in the top apron. Fortunately, the team was able to make everything fit eventually. This has been a long time coming due to the team’s attention to detail, while developing expertise in the construction of the table. The production team had to divide up and conquer. This meant people had to learn new skills that they have never done before. This is why this first table has taken so long. However, the team has been able to manufacture multiple parts for multiple tables. This will make the production for the next tables go smoother.

The next step for the team is to complete sanding of Table #1. Once that is complete, we will be giving the table to our graduate assistant to be finished. This will be a huge milestone for the team and I believe there have been a lot of great lessons learned through this first table.
