Production Production Production

These past few weeks have been flying by at the Wood Enterprise Institute. With the second table order on the books and the end of the semester approaching fast, our team has lots of work to do. Our first

table customer has requested a smaller table, changing the direction of our teams focus. We are continuing to work on our first table, however to make sure our customer is satisfied the smaller table is our new priority.

Earlier in the semester the production team decided to divide and conquer; meaning that each member of the team is making a different piece of the tables. This decision has fared us well recently because each team member can mass produce the part of the table that they are assigned. Many of our team members have already produced parts for the first, second, and third tables progressing our production. With parts completed, we can begin fine tuning and fitting them together. The picture above shows one of our “dry fit tests” of the first table. A dry fit test is performed to see how our pieces are fitting together. When fitting parts together measurements need to be exact. Our margins can be as small as a 64 the of an inch to make sure the table doesn’t have any creeks or gaps so that it is perfect when it arrives. This attention to detail is just one of the positive characteristics of the Wood Enterprise Institute
