Open House

Reasons to Support WEI

The main purpose this business holds is to educate the students in how business works. They learn how to create a product and how to market it out to the populous. Students start the process in the fall year and then finish with making the product towards the spring. This year the students are taking a piece of history and making it a work of art. We want you the consumer to have the ability to have a piece of history in your home. Don’t wait until May when students will be shutting down the business for the semester.

Table questions:

Customers Beware!

Q: When will ordering tables open for customers?

A: We are roaring to go at the Wood Enterprise Institute and would love to start working on your piece of history. The more orders we receive the more tables we will make.

Q: What if we have a special request about our piece of history?

A: If your questions is not answered on our website, feel free to email us and ask away. We hope to have the answer you’re looking for.

This past Tuesday WEI held an open house to showcase our product, slab tables made from a 300 year old tree that was removed from the grove after it died. The open house was a success, and kind visitors helped us narrow down on the options for finishing and constructing the tables.

Most respondents indicated that they would prefer classic wood joinery, that they liked the contrast in the table top and legs, would prefer a separate piece that detailed the history of the tree, and that they would be okay with some smaller defects in the slabs to preserve the character of the wood. The valuable information gained from this survey and input from everyone at the open house will help guide the production process of the tables. The production team hopes to have the next table completed by the end of next week, despite challendes with the material.
